Queen of the Hill

Posted on June 15, 2022June 15, 2022 by Staff

2002170930 – We moved to Kingston late December 2019. Mia immediately ran into these woods across from from our house and established the area as her domain. Every single day (and night)  it became part of her routine to run into these woods, often out of sight due to foliage or distance, ignoring Lisa and I frantically calling for her return. Sometimes she would run up the hill, as pictured, and then turn around to stare at us from her perch, daring me to chase her. I often did, as she disappeared from sight and ran further and further from home. I can’t recall how many times I breathlessly chased her through these woods, up and over the hills, and many times in less than optimal footwear. It was a game she always won. When she decided it was over, she would run back to the house at top speed, leaping over and under obstacles, leaving me to take a much slower path while all the time calling her a “little shit.”
