1803181819 – This picture shows Mia just moments before she leaped up at me in a characteristic expression of hard play. She’s not wearing her leash in this picture because we are in front of our home in Wilmington, at the end of our walk home from town. It was routine to remove her leash at this point allowing her to roam freely and give my arm a break. It also prompted Mia this was the time for a game of tug of war, and looking at this picture I can see it in her eyes. I am also privy to the pictures and video that preceded and followed this in context.
This picture captures the moment I knew, from the look in her eye, that she would be making a move for the leash. All one-hundred or so pounds of Mia sprung at me with an abrupt conviction that guaranteed she would surely take control of the object of her restraint. And she did.
